A Science of Human Nature?

Philosophical Disputes at the Interface of Natural and Social Science

Dr Elizabeth Hannon

Postdoctoral Research Assistant (2012-2015)

I gained my PhD from Durham University, where I examined the implications for evolutionary psychology of an evolutionary biology better informed by developmental considerations. My current research interests include the models of cognition assumed in various approaches to cultural evolution, and on the extent to which Hacking’s work on human kinds creates unique challenges for cultural evolutionists. I am Assistant Editor for the British Journal for the Philosophy of Science and the Associate Director for the Forum of European Philosophy at LSE.

I no longer work as the postdoctoral research assistant on this project, but I am still involved in the forthcoming conference and edited volume and can be reached at For all other queries related to this project, please contact Sam Murison (
